Dermapen

One technology that has been proven to deliver amazing results time and time again is Dermapen Micro Skin Needling. The treatment is a form of collagen induction therapy where a series of needles penetrate the skin causing thousands of micro injuries at a vertical angle using a specialist medical device, for both faster and more precise needle penetration. The procedure leads to increased collagen production, which effectively repairs scars, reduces discolouration and renews tired looking skin.

What is Dermapen used for?

  • Skin tightening, lifting and rejuvenation
  • Acne scars and wound healing
  • Improve wrinkles and fine lines
  • Minimise pore size
  • Improve stretch marks
  • Treats alopecia
  • Tired Eyes/Dark Circles

What does the treatment involve?

The treatment itself involves moving the device around the area of skin to be treated. For facial treatments, each session usually takes around 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes for treatments on the large body area. All you need to do is sit back and relax. As the technology is designed to reduce discomfort, Anaesthetic cream is not really required but is optional.

What will I look like after treatment?

Immediately after treatment the skin may appear a little sunburned. Breathable makeup can be used to cover the redness, but within a day the skins appearance is completely restored (and improved). Clients experience no down time at all, and are able to resume work or other activities straight away after leaving the clinic.

When will I see the results after Dermapen treatment?

Skin should feel smoother after just a couple of days as there is an initial exfoliation. However, collagen production can take several weeks to have its maximum effect and can even be up to 6 months.

How many Dermapen treatments will I need?

This is really dependent on the condition you are trying to improve and what else you are doing. We recommend a minimum of 3 treatments for general rejuventation and at least 5 for acne scarring. Treatments are performed 4-6 weeks apart. Specialist skin care is highly recommended to get the most you’re your treatment and best results, combination treatments can be recommended.

How long will the results last?

Duration of results is dependent on the individual and the speed of aging. The treatment will increase the amount of collagen but this will then slowly decrease in the same way as the collagen decreased with ageing before treatment. In the case of acne scarring, results can be permanent.

Does it hurt?

You might think that having a many of tiny needles stamped into your skin would be painful, but surprisingly it is not. Although it can be mildly uncomfortable in areas for some, Everyone who has experienced treatment with the Dermapen has remarked on how pain free it really is, and some have even commented that it’s a little like a massage for the skin.

Is it safe?

Yes, the treatment is completely safe. The micro needling treatment does not pierce the skins natural barrier, only penetrating into the epidermis to stimulate collagen production. The epidermis heals rapidly, usually in a matter of hours, and the skin should be completely back to normal within 24 to 48 hours.
